Character Creation Basics
Character Creation Basics
0. CHECK WITH YOUR GAME DUNGEON MASTER
Take some time to look through what I’ve put out there for character information. Hey, its not a lot, its just flavor text, but you should be able to decide where you want to build your character from. Then find out what you’ll be playing, (i.e. classes, races, etc.) and what equipment I’ll allow. The main thin is this, if its unusual or questionable, then ask. I need preparation too.
1. GENERATE ABILITY SCORES
- I’ve done this for you! All players will be using: 18, 17, 13, 12, 10, 8 for their ability scores. This gives everyone the same base to start with, as well as balanced foundation before the other things start unbalancing things later on. lol.
2. RUN YOU CONCEPT BY ME
I have to spend time adjusting and tweaking the game to keeps things running smoothly. At least try to give me an idea of what you are playing and where you want to go with your character.
3. ASSIGN AND ADJUST ABILITY SCORES
Figure out where you want to put them.
4. CHOOSE RACE
See the chapter on races to see your choices on which races you can play. Most are in one book or another, or here somewhere in the game book. I will happily post a link with the listing of Races here on the site as well as possibly here in this link.
5. CHOOSE CLASS
Look at what kind of class you want to play. There are a few not in the books, but most are, check ‘em out. I may also post links for the class listings later on. But as rule of thumb, any book in the DropBox will be fair game.
6. HIT POINTS
Lucky you, you get to start to game with max hit points. But if you die, then you only get your first level at full and have roll for each level.
7. REVIEW DESCRIPTION
Read your shit…
8. SELECT EQUIPMENT
Normally you would choose equipment here. but this campaign you arent starting with anything. Except what you choose to bring with you on the first adventure. If you are coming in later in the game, well dont forget that you get starting gear, and then have to use your gold for the rest.
(Don’t forget you have starting equipment too… )
9. RECORD COMBAT SKILLS AND NUMBERS
Check your character sheet and write all you crap down.
10. DETAILS GALORE
Have a history for your character. To a point. Here is actually where you get a bit of leeway. My personal suggestion is to take a bit of time, Talk to the GM and roll on the Heroes of Fantasy Life Path Generator. It will take anywhere from 45min to 3 hours. However you can end up with a LOT of extra gear, feats, skill points and more for your trouble, during which you can actually be building your character while you do it. And you know its going to take you at least 45min to 3 hours to build your character anyways, so why not?
11. FINISH YOUR CHARACTER
Yup, just like it says. Make sure your character is linked and/or recorded to the Site here.
Rolling Up Your First Character
“OR…DAMN IT! I DIED AGAIN!!!”
Welcome to Nexrealm – Age of Heroes. I am your guide and GM to this humble world. There are some pleasant additions and alteration for this game, but I’d like to hear what you have to say on it. But let me give you some basic guidelines and we’ll get you going.
Character creation follows the normal creation guidelines set forth in AEG’s Swashbuckling Adventures with few exceptions. The first is noted above, in your die rolling. The second is that I have not yet capped the number of Advantages and Disadvantages from the game. The second are the races. If you end up with a race that has and ECL 3+ let me know, please? There are things to consider.
